Let’s wrap this thing up.

I fell behind. So as a refresher: We’re talking about 4 reasons people ✌️don’t need✌️ strategies and why they’re wrong. I owe you a 4th one so I’ll make that short and sweet and then we’ll get to some end of year things.

A quick review:

  1. “We’re not ready yet”

  2. Strategies only help if things are going as expected.

  3. “It’s going to be too complicated”

4. Because we’re too special.

tl;dr on why it doesn’t hold up: You are so special. And you need a special strategy to match.

the details: This is only half myth. You really are very special. And your uniqueness is exactly why this work is important. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need a strategy in place to guide your growth. In fact, I’d argue the opposite is true. Without a strategy that’s uniquely designed for you and your vision, you risk chasing after someone else’s growth path or pulling ideas from the ether that aren’t at all aligned with you and the work that’s yours to do. So you are as special as you’d like to believe and your work does matter as much as you think it does. And that’s why you need guardrails in place. To protect your growth.

In 2026, find a way to remind yourself often what aligned growth looks like for you. I’ve started sending Clarity Workshop clients a printed canvas to put it in front of their workspace. You need a person or a paper or a cue somewhere to get in your way and remind you what you’re here for. If I can help you craft that, just reply and we’ll figure out how.

Now. On a different note:

I need to say thank you.

I did a little roundup of my own work for the year. I got to work with 81 leaders this year. At 56 organizations. This is wild to me because I don’t work with just anybody. And I don’t really work at scale either. But 81 people trusted me to help them push their vision towards completion.

They are world changers.

You are world changers.

And we need every one of you.

Keep going.

I’m cheering for you.

As for me - I love charts, good beer, nerdy nature books, and sneakers. When I’m not spinning up spreadsheets, you can find me gardening, hanging with my wonderfully wild kids, or sneaking in a nap. ✌️
